Clinical Negligence Solicitor

Description

As a Clinical Negligence Solicitor, it will be your responsibility to provide legal advice on all areas of clinical negligence, either on the claimant or defendant side.

While duties may vary depending on the specific nature of each case, the typical responsibilities of a Clinical Negligence Solicitor are to:

  • Manage a caseload of medical negligence work
  • Assess and advise on the prospects of success on a range of clinical negligence claims
  • Draft pleadings, witness statements and letters of response
  • Conduct face-to-face negotiations and mediation of claims
  • Prepare counter schedules
  • Act as first and primary contact for clients on a day-to-day basis

Typical Rate

The typical salary for a Clinical Negligence Solicitor can vary significantly, based on the individual organisation, seniority of the role and your location. Dependent on your experience, you may earn between £40,000 and £60,000 per annum.

Required Skills and Experience

The requirements for a job as a Clinical Negligence Solicitor will, again, vary dependent on the specific nature of the role. However, most law firms will require you to have the following:

  • At least 2 years PQE
  • Experience of managing own caseload effectively
  • Litigation experience with a medical negligence, personal injury or insurance practice
  • Excellent client care skills, with an ability to show empathy and understanding
  • Meticulous attention to detail
