More Labourers on Site This Week

Published on 19th September 2014

Last week Kalcrest reported an increase in the number of skilled trades on site, which made up 49% of their workers. This continues to remain static - despite the shortage of staff available nationwide - and we still have jobs to fill for joiners, painters and decorators, and plasterers.

But this week we have also seen an increase in labourers with CSCS cards, rising from 25% to 29%. The type of work labourers would undertake on site would include very physical, manual activities including digging trenches, laying foundations, ground work, site clearance and building walls.

The remainder of workers on site this week are civil workers (9%) and more senior management-level construction staff (13%).
This final quarter of the year is predictably a busy time in the construction industry as housebuilders and property developers try to complete projects before the winter weather sets in, and this is reflected with the number of jobs currently available across all job roles.
