Number of job vacancies in the construction industry is growing

Published on 18th December 2017

November saw activity in the UK construction industry rise at its fastest pace since June - bringing in new work and creating jobs across the country.

The increase in construction output was largely driven by new orders coming into the house building sector, which reached a 5-month high, according to the recent IHS Markit/CIPS Construction PMI.

Residential construction companies across the country have reported a more positive sentiment regarding the future of the industry, noting policy support for house building and a slight recovery in the UK economy helping to grow client confidence and encouraging them to place orders after a hesitant few months.

Keeping up with the increased workload has proved difficult for many construction companies.
Employers have recognised a need to expand their workforce in order to meet the requirements of new contracts coming in. So with the growth in client demand, came growth in job creation.

The industry has faced a lot of uncertainty over the past 6 months, but as we approach the New Year, prospects are improving. Clients are gradually gaining the confidence to commit to orders, and this is directly resulting in more job vacancies. So whether you’re a bricklayer, joiner, labourer or site manager, the need for workers with your skills and experience is only rising.

Kalcrest Site Services are leading experts at helping construction workers and tradespeople find jobs all over the UK. We’ll identify roles that best suit your skills and experience and help you into the next step in your career.

If you’re looking for your next construction job, apply for one of our current vacancies or send a copy of your CV to info@kalcrest.co.uk.
