In-House Commercial Lawyer

Description

As an in-house commercial lawyer, it will be your responsibility to support the business by providing legal advice on all commercial matters and ensuring that the organisation remains legally compliant at all times.

While the role may vary depending on the nature and requirements of the business, the typical duties of an in-house solicitor may be to:

  • Be the main point of contact for all commercial law advice within the business
  • Manage all legal documentation
  • Review, negotiate and conclude contracts
  • Review marketing materials and advise sales and marketing departments on legal requirements
  • Liaise with new product development teams to ensure all new products meet legal requirements
  • Liaise with the HR department to develop and deliver internal training programmes where required

Typical Rate

The typical salary for an in-house commercial solicitor can vary significantly, based on the individual organisation, seniority of the role and your location. Dependent on your experience, you may earn anywhere between £40,000 and £80,000 per annum.

Required Skills and Experience

The exact requirements will differ, again, depending on the individual position. However, the requirements for many in-house commercial lawyer roles are:

  • Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 2 years PQE
  • Previous experience working as an in-house solicitor
  • Contract management experience
  • Some organisations may also require a strong working knowledge of intellectual property law, as well as corporate law
