Window Fitter

Description

A window fitter will install windows, conservatories and glazed curtain walls in homes and businesses.

The main duties of a window fitter are:

  • Removing old windows and doors with hand and power tools
  • Measuring up the space for new windows or doors
  • Fixing units in place, making sure they’re level and secure
  • Sealing fittings to make them weathertight
  • Clearing away leftover materials

Required Qualifications

To work as a window fitter you’ll need to have:

    • Maths skill to measure and work out dimensions
    • Ideally some experience in either carpentry or joinery
    • You will also be required to hold a valid CSCS card to gain entry to most sites. A driving license may also be needed for travelling between jobs.

  • Do I need experience?

    Yes. You will need to have good customers service skills and the ability to plan and organise workloads. You will need to have an understanding of your role and some maths skill to be able to accurately work out dimensions needed to install the windows.
