The prospects for construction jobs in Yorkshire continue to look good following the announcement of plans for a number of major developments in the region.
Job opportunities for engineers, trades and site labourers have grown in recent months, thanks to a rise in activity in the housebuilding and construction sectors.
That trend looks set to continue for the foreseeable future, with a selection of large-scale projects already being planned in the Yorkshire area.
Developments announced in recent weeks include:
- Construction of a £43 million research facility for University of Sheffield
- Construction of a £25 million factory for Airedale International in Rawdon
- The redevelopment of a 150,000 sq ft site in Catterick to create a retail and leisure complex
- 55 new family homes in Acomb, York
- Building two new stations on the Leeds to Bradford line
- Construction of a 50,000 sq ft office complex for Hiscox in York
- Building of a student residential development in Leeds
- The £250,000 refurbishment of Gelderd Point, Leeds
- A 210,000 sq ft industrial complex near Doncaster
- A number of planning applications for major projects have also been made, including a £50 million redevelopment of
- Headingley cricket ground, a £25 million business park in Hull and a £10 million regeneration scheme in Harrogate.
